Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P)

About Course

This is a training program that prepares you to take the CCS-P certification exam. The CCS-P credential demonstrates your proficiency in coding medical data from patient records in physician offices, group practices, multi-specialty clinics, or specialty centers. The CCS-P exam tests your knowledge of diagnosis coding, procedure coding, research, compliance, and revenue cycle. These courses cover topics such as anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodology, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding systems.

Eligibilities

you need to meet one of the following criteria: Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, and a letter of recommendation, a record of experience, documents of past trainings, and between one to three years of experience in clinical research.
Have completed courses in anatomy & physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodology, intermediate/advanced ICD diagnostic coding, and procedural coding and medical services, plus one year of coding experience.
Have a minimum of two years of related coding experience. Hold the CCA credential plus one year of coding experience. Hold a coding credential from another certifying organization plus one year of coding experience. Hold the CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credential.
